I have chose this image as i get the response I wanted. They're is a sense of attitude within the picture that I got from the facial expression and the prop that I used- the lollipop. The lighting is good as well as I get a distinctive shadow towards one side of the picture and strong light on the opposite side creating a powerful contrast. The costume suits the genre as well as its R&B, shes wearing a thick gold chain to show that shes wealthy, shes also a strong independent women who's not afraid to be different and stand out.

I like this idea, I will have the masthead or the headline half over the darkest piece and half over the lightest for example if I was to use this idea for my masthead id split it into POLY and PHONIC to make polyphonic.

Brand identity for my magazine-
Brand identity of my music magazine-
My magazine will consist of music from the genres R&B as i have noticed form looking at my questionnaire that its the most popular genre. My masthead and images will relate to this this genre. All images and colours will have a clear link to my genr-"" of my magazine helping to form a clear brand identity for my magazine informing my audience what my magazine is about. the images will be positioned on the front so that it will become recognizable. The colours I will use are orange, purple and dark blue with Black to make things stand out and for the text. Orange connotes enthusiasm, joy, and success, it'll also attract the audience to my magazine. The purple represents power, ambition and wisdom creating a good experience for my audience. The dark blue symbolizes sincerity, tranquility and calmness which will also contrast well with the purple and orange. Black outlines and text shows sophistication and professionalism. I have noticed from looking at my questionnaires that I issued to people that they don't like a busy layout when looking at a magazine they like it to be clear and not busy.

Masthead ideas for my Music Magazine.
Here are a variety of masthead ideas that i have created using Fireworks.
I thought onomatopoeia for music would come across very effective to my audience therefore i decided on these words.I have decided that polyphonic is an effective masthead for my magazine as it means more than one type of music and that conveys with my magazine well as i am having more than one genre in it. I am now going to develop the masthead to make it better for my magazine.

Kerrang brand identity and NME
This screenshot is of Kerrang magazine covers that I found on Google images.
These magazines cater to a niche audience of around 15-25 years old interested in rock, hardcore, heavy metal and alternate rock music. You wouldn't find artists such as Lady Gaga or Jay Z in this magazine due to their specific genre of music. Kerrangs house colours are quite dark, they use blacks, yellows and reds mainly- these colours would be consist and throughout the magazine. These colours have connotations of violence which appeal to the audience as they're related to these genres of music. Sans serif is used throughout which makes the magazine look more serious and professional, the constant use of capital letters on the front of the magazine makes the front cover bold and loud being relevant to the content of bands. The institutional values is that it sticks to one type of music and aims to provide your dates, music reviews and exclusive interviews.
This screenshot is of NME magazines that i found on Google images.
This music magazine consists of more of a range of different music compared to kerrang.NME is a music magazine for people who like listening to indie/rock music, there is a much more wider variety of music genres than lets say, 'Kerrang!' The house colours of NME is red, white and black which implies satanic music, however the black and white could symbolise a complete contrast in music with in the magazine, for example rock and charts music. If you look at the front covers that I have printscreened you would notice that most of the page is red, black and white. The colours in the NME masthead is the house colours, it's also simple and easily recognisable. When someone is looking out for NME in the shop shelves, they will always look for the red, black and white one, this shows that the house colours give the magazine a brand identity that everyone recognises. On the front cover there's usually a large image of an artist or a band to draw people's attention in. The subjects in the images are usually using direct address, which makes it more personal and eye-catching. The target market is teenagers and young adults up to about the ages of 25, however this isn't to say a 50 year old lady wouldn't enjoy this magazine. I can tell this because they use bright colours and informal language, but they've still made it look sophisticated and use a simple layout.

I have created this questionnaire as I would like to find out more about my target audience and what their preferences are so that they will read my magazine. This questionnaire will help me to find out what to put into my magazine, what layout to use, what colours and what genre of music to choose to suit my audience. In the real questionnaire that I am going to create I will use pictures of other magazines for my audience to choose which they prefer so I can get an idea of the house styles and fonts that appeal to them.
