FINAL CONTENTS PAGE

This is my contents page. The masthead takes up 3 lines making it unique to this certain magazine. This layout of my masthead is unusual and suggests individuality which can reflect the school and its pupils.
The masthead is instantly readable, it also follows the house style using black and red. the masthead has a drop shadow to project more against its surface.
I've placed a big starburst in the right corner advertising the poster on page 8, the text is in black and bold to make it easily noticeable.

MAGAZINE FRONT COVER

This is my Front Page of my magazine. I called it rumour as it is snappy yet effective. the connotation of this title is information that everyone wants to know and will get round the school and area quickly which is exactly what I'm looking for. I washed out the background to emphasise the text and images more. the masthead is in a vibrant red with a drop shadow to help project it more. There is a strapline just below the masthead which is the schools motto. The schools motto is important for the magazine as it means a lot. The school theme colours are red white and black therefore I have taken this into account and put those colours into my house style.

Pictures that could go in my magazine

Mid shot of a student of Plantsbrook next to the lockers.

This is more of a medium close up shot of the student by the lockers.

This is the cleaner of Plantsbrook school. This is a photo of her in a wide shot/mid shot.

This is more a cutaway show due to it being of something other than the subject. We have a group of Plantsbrooks science pupils doing an experiment.

Within the Magazine

As part of my coursework project I am required to do a preliminary activity, this is to design the front cover and contents page for a magazine for Plantsbrook School.  Inside this magazine there will be highlights of the week, awards, images, information on PB radio, new teachers and leaving teachers, the menu, upcoming events, statistics, exam information and charity events.

The audience for my school magazine.

The audience-
The audience of my magazine is basically anyone that interested in what’s happening within Plantsbrook School, this can be students of Plantsbrook School and their parents or just someone in the area. Usually the readers are within the age range of 15-50. People in the local community around the school in Sutton Coldfield may want to read it, even people further out.

Template for my contents page

This is a draft/template of my contents page. It includes a medium close up image of a pupil on rewards day that got amazing results, this will be told to my audience in its caption placed just under the image. My headline will come down the page making it unique to my magazine so its audience can easily recognise it and know what magazine it is instantly. There's a banner along the bottom of the page which will state the schools slogan, 'be the best that you can be'. There will be an advertisement in the right corner of the page advertising stationary such as pencils and pens.
The house style colours will be red black and white.

Conventions of a contents page in a magazine.

Title- Something that's specific to its category and can relate to it. Usually one word.
Caption- a statement under the picture to explain or describe what it is or about.
Headline- to present or promote a headliner, usually in bold, big type. Visual Syntax- the way in which the text and images are organised, makes the audience read the page in a certain way and direction.
Text- there to change someone's opinion/encourage someone to do something in particular, make sure the audience knows and understands something, to create awareness and give information.
Page numbers- so that the audience can then refer back to that page if necessary and its easy to locate.
House Style- colours and fonts used consistently throughout. Columns- used to help show neatness and present text better.
Categories (sections)- designed to make the magazine more organised and give a more formal approach.
-Pull Quotes a quote from the magazine to get the readers attention and so that they want to read more.
-Information/Blurb It is a promotional description, originally for praise the page and advertises inside.
-Columns to show an ordered layout.
-Images to get the audiences attention, it also makes it less boring and entertains the audience.
-Banners creates a contrast between the title/headline/text so that its clearer to the audience and gets their attention.

I have learnt about media communication. Media communication is the media that is communicated to its audience such as text and photographs.
